Did you know that children learn an average of 4,000 to 12,000 new words each year as a result of book reading? (Scholastic: Classroom Libraries Work!)

Having a large vocabulary helps your child in all areas of communication. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing. When your child learns new words it gives them access to new levels of new information. This new information allows them to think and learn about the world in different ways.
